Recent reports indicate that the two physicians implicated in Matthew Perry‘s passing still retain their medical licenses and can — surprisingly — continue to prescribe medications to their patients, as per information obtained by TMZ.
Dr. Mark Chavez and Dr. Salvador Plasencia were charged just last week for conspiring to provide ketamine to the late star of “Friends”.
TMZ initially reported that the California State Medical Board has started an investigation into the mentioned doctors but has allowed their medical licenses to remain active without any disciplinary action taken.
Currently, information reveals that the State Medical Board has imposed NO restrictions on the doctors’ licenses, allowing them to prescribe potent medications to anyone, similar to what they were accused of doing in the Perry case.
The Board has officially stated … “Both licenses remain active and current, with no restrictions imposed by the Board.”
Regarding the Perry incident, Dr. Chavez has already reached a plea deal with prosecutors by admitting guilt in conspiracy charges related to ketamine distribution.
According to prosecutors, Chavez confessed to supplying the drug to Dr. Plasencia after obtaining ketamine through fraudulent prescriptions.
Plasencia allegedly administered large doses of ketamine to Matthew, even doing so at the actor’s residence. Court documents reveal that Plasencia referred to Perry as a “moron” in a text to Chavez, questioning how much the actor would be willing to pay for the drug.
Plasencia faces several charges including conspiracy to distribute ketamine, distribution resulting in death, intent to distribute methamphetamine, and tampering with records in a federal investigation. He has pleaded not guilty.
