Jeremy Madix, brother of former Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix, was taken into custody at his residence in Oceanside, California, on July 10 and then extradited to Orange County, Florida.
As per legal documents obtained by various celebrity gossip sources, Madix has been charged with one count of cannabis trafficking over 25 pounds, related to an event that occurred on February 16.
The warrant for his arrest claims that Jeremy and his companion Jonah Ahad were traveling from Orlando International Airport to Frankfurt, Germany when Customs and Border Protection officials searched their bags.
In Jeremy’s luggage, he was allegedly found with 64 vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana, totaling around 76 pounds.
That’s an astonishing amount of marijuana.
Initially, Madix was held without bail, but a judge later set his bail at $80,000, resulting in his release.
Upon his release, the reality star was required to surrender his passport within five days to the clerk’s office.
Madix is facing a minimum of three years in prison alongside a $25,000 fine.
Since his arrest, Jeremy’s mother, Tanya Madix, has penned a letter advocating for her son, informing the judge in charge of the case that the 32-year-old is “a wonderful loving son” and a “kind person.”
However, there has been no update from sister Ariana.
This is largely due to the fact that the siblings are not particularly close.
“Of course, I will always support my sister,” Jeremy expressed in March during the PUMP RULES Podcast, referencing Ariana’s well-publicized breakup with Tom Sandoval following his affair with Raquel Leviss.
“I would really like to talk to Tom, and I would love to reach out to my sister, but I haven’t heard from her in months.”
He previously disclosed to Us Weekly that their estrangement is partially due to Ariana’s lack of rapport with Jeremy’s fiancée.
“There have been several minor aggressive behaviors towards my fiancée, which is why I haven’t been in touch with my sister. This has been ongoing for quite a while,” he shared with the tabloid a few months ago.
“I think we’ve mainly been letting it slide because I will always support my sister. However, I found myself in a position where I had to choose between my sister and the person I’m planning to spend my life with.”
