John Aprea, known for roles in “The Godfather Part II” and “Full House,” has passed away due to natural causes, according to TMZ.
His manager, Will Levine, informed that the actor passed away on August 7 at his home in Los Angeles, surrounded by family.
John referred to his portrayal of young Salvatore Tessio as his standout achievement in his career. Initially, he auditioned for the role of Michael Corleone in the original ‘Godfather,’ a role that ultimately went to Al Pacino, but Francis Ford Coppola later cast Aprea in the 1974 sequel.
John’s notable career began with a classic, as he made his acting debut in 1968 on Steve McQueen‘s “Bullitt.”
During the ’80s and ’90s, he guest-starred on numerous TV shows including “Knots Landing,” “Falcon Crest,” “The Gangster Chronicles,” and “Full House”—a testament to his versatility!
Aprea portrayed Nick Katsopolis, the father of John Stamos‘ Uncle Jesse character, and reprised this role for the reboot, “Fuller House.”
He also had several appearances on daytime television, particularly on “Another World,” where he played various roles over the years.

His friend and former “Knots Landing” co-star Paul Carafotes shared a heartfelt tribute, stating, “Many will miss this man.”
John was 83 years old.
