AllHipHop: When we met, you were at the BET Media House in LA. Seeing people in the BET House gives me insight into who they are or what their path might be.
Poiison: Absolutely, it was my first time. It felt fantastic. It’s a unique experience filled with so much black excellence, creating memorable moments. I truly loved it.

AllHipHop: You've been grinding for a while; tell us a bit about your journey and background.

AllHipHop: What area exactly?

Poiison: I’m from Ozone Park. While I’m not from the more famous parts of Queens, I still carry that Queens pride.

AllHipHop: Forest Hills has its charm too. All areas of Queens have their own vibes.

Poiison: As an artist, I’m both a singer and a rapper. My creativity knows no bounds, and I’m enjoying every moment. I’m here to stir things up.

AllHipHop: Let’s discuss your recent tracks featuring Cash Cobain.

Poiison: He’s incredibly talented right now. “Me, Her And You” is a track I created, and my connections pointed me to him. I thought, “Cash Cobain is the hottest in the city!” We decided to collaborate, and I instantly knew which song to send him. It’s a little different from his usual style, but we really connected in the studio. He delivered an amazing verse, and I’m grateful for it. I believe our collaboration allowed us both to explore new territories.

AllHipHop: How do you perceive the current music scene in New York? It's always been a hotbed for talent, with icons like Nas and Nicki Minaj. How do you find your place?

Poiison: I certainly think I contribute to a new wave of energy. Some may not be familiar with me yet, but people will soon see that I have staying power. I plan to keep moving, showcasing my distinctive style. I’m bringing fun and authenticity, while also addressing meaningful topics that connect with listeners. This is part of the new wave.

AllHipHop: What's the story behind your track about pills?

Poiison: That would be “Pills For The Pain.”

AllHipHop: That track resonated with me.

Poiison: It’s definitely a classic.

AllHipHop: Indeed, it is a classic. Could you share more about the inspiration behind that record?

Poiison: “Pills For The Pain” came from an authentic place. I was living well but struggling to find internal happiness. I visited a friend's studio, where I poured out my feelings, and he encouraged me to record. What emerged was organic. The lyrics came effortlessly: “Pills for the Pain on a Sunny Day / I don't know what love is. It just faded away.” That moment transformed into a popular song that still resonates with listeners today.

Poiison: Serotonin is the key.

AllHipHop: Exactly.

Poiison: My music aims to connect with audiences and uplift them. Even if they’re going through tough times, I want to evoke some feeling, and that’s my mission with every song.

AllHipHop: Definitely. Fan engagement is crucial, especially for emerging artists. How do you see your audience evolving?

Poiison: I feel like I’m on a journey of growth, meeting new people along the way. While I still have my core fans from three years ago, I'm growing my audience and I’m thankful for each new connection.

AllHipHop: Who were your musical inspirations growing up?

Poiison: Great question! Growing up, I listened to Lil Wayne, Madonna, and Lady Gaga. I’m also a big fan of Kevin Gates and NBA Young Boy.

AllHipHop: Do you categorize yourself as an MC, a rapper, or a multifaceted artist?

Poiison: I see myself as a musician. I write, and although I’m not the strongest singer, I have some skills. I can navigate instruments—not at an expert level, but I’m proficient in many areas.

AllHipHop: What career aspirations did you have as a child?

Poiison: I initially wanted to play basketball.

AllHipHop: Why didn’t you pursue that career path?

Poiison: Because I fell in love with music.

AllHipHop: How was your experience working with Styles P?

Poiison: I have immense respect for Styles P. He’s like a big brother to me. He's a gentleman, super cool, and immensely talented. The collaboration felt seamless—“I've got something for you,” and he delivered an amazing verse that carried a meaningful message.

AllHipHop: Can you elaborate on that message, especially for young women?

Poiison: The track “Big Boys” addresses the importance of positive male influences. It resonates with anyone who may lack a strong male figure in their life, and it speaks to learning from past mistakes to make better choices. It was great to receive his brotherly advice throughout the process.

AllHipHop: What valuable lessons did you take away from that collaboration?

Poiison: We had meaningful discussions. His key piece of advice was, “Just keep pushing forward and don’t let your emotions get the best of you.” That wisdom from someone with extensive experience was invaluable.
