Blac Youngsta was taken into custody in October 2020 in Dallas after police discovered a firearm inside his vehicle during a routine traffic stop. He faced charges for unlawful possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. Reportedly, Youngsta declined to participate in a pre-trial diversion program, leading prosecutors to eventually dismiss the case.
The rapper, originally from Memphis, was already a convicted felon at the time of his arrest, making the possession of a firearm illegal for him. TMZ reported that the judge’s decision to dismiss his case brought relief to his attorney, Carl A. Moore, who commended the District Attorney’s Office for their ruling.
Blac Youngsta has faced multiple arrests related to weapon charges. In May 2017, he was apprehended in connection with a shooting incident involving Young Dolph in Charlotte, North Carolina. He voluntarily surrendered after arrest warrants were issued and was charged with various offenses, including discharging a weapon into an occupied property and felony conspiracy.
Two years later, law enforcement reported that Youngsta admitted the bag containing two semi-automatic pistols in his vehicle was his and that he was in possession of prohibited ammunition.
Blac Youngsta started his musical journey in the early 2010s, putting out a series of mixtapes that garnered him local fame in Memphis. His big break came with the release of the 2014 mixtape Fast Bricks 3, which paved the way for a signing with Collective Music Group (CMG). He gained mainstream popularity with subsequent hits including “Heavy,” “Hip Hopper” featuring Lil Yachty, and the viral track “Booty.”
He has dropped several studio albums, including 223 (2018) and Church on Sunday (2019). His latest album, Blac Youngsta Presents: Heavy Camp, Checkmate, was released in January and features collaborations with Heavy Camp artists like Lil Migo, Trapionn, and Cy Yung. The album consists of 11 tracks that blend street anthems with personal narratives, including the closing track “Loyal” performed by Blac Youngsta.
