DJ Quik is not going to tolerate any slander against DeVante Swing and has taken to social media to address Stevie J’s recent critical remarks about the R&B icon.
In a recent Facebook post, DJ Quik came out forcefully in support of his longtime friend and R&B icon, rebuffing allegations made by Stevie J. In a controversial interview, Stevie J claimed that Swing had attacked one of his artists—a claim DJ Quik quickly denounced as unfounded. Quik shared a message from Swing’s official Facebook page, where he took Stevie J to task for suggesting that the Jodeci producer would ever resort to violence against anyone, let alone another artist.
“I have to share my perspective on what Stevie J said in an interview about DeVanté Swing hitting his artist—that sounds completely fabricated.” DJ Quik wrote in his post. “I believe Stevie J has some serious jealousy issues related to DeVanté’s talent and achievements.”
DJ Quik, who has known Swing for many years and regards him as a close friend, firmly condemned the ill-intentions behind Stevie J’s claims as he elaborated. Given his loyalty to the 90s R&B genius, Quik did not hesitate to critique Stevie J, indicating that the accusations arise from deeper-seated issues regarding the attention Swing has received throughout his outstanding career.
“DeVanté is a genius, man. He’s produced some of the most iconic hits in R&B history over the decades,” he expressed. “Stevie J, in contrast, has had some success but can’t compare to DeVanté’s level of brilliance.”
DJ Quik’s post continued to accuse Stevie J of harboring a long-standing grudge against Swing, which he believes has driven him to speak negatively about him at every opportunity.
“Stevie J has been trying to undermine DeVanté for years. He’s always disparaging him in interviews, attempting to tarnish his image,” Quik stated. “But in the end, DeVanté is the one who has the hits, the accolades, and the industry’s respect.”
In conclusion, DJ Quik reassured his fans, “So, to all my fans out there, don’t fall for the hype. Stevie J is just a hater, and DeVanté Swing is the true MVP.”
The backdrop of this feud spans several years, characterized by competitive friction and public disagreements between the two producers. In 2017, Stevie J appeared on the Drink Champs podcast where he alleged that Swing had hit Missy Elliott, Timbaland, and Ginuwine while they were associated with his label, Mob.
